JOB DESCRIPTION
The National Forensic Center is a department within the Swedish Police Authority. In close collaboration with the investigative operations, the department leads, develops, and performs forensic work for successful crime fighting. The department is responsible for the entire forensic process within the police - from crime scene investigations, laboratory work, and IT forensics to forensic expert opinions in criminal cases. The mission also includes acting as expert support and conducting training, strategic research, and development to future-proof the police's forensic capabilities.
The IT department at the National Forensic Center has a consolidated expertise in the IT forensic area, which includes image, video, audio, sensor technology, data, electronics, and mobile telephony. The unit also conducts examinations of handwriting, documents, and banknotes. The operation is tasked with developing new methods and tools for the entire Police Authority to streamline and enhance overall capabilities.
We are looking for a forensic technician for Case Support, IT department at the National Forensic Center. With us, you will develop and gain lifelong experiences together with engaged and friendly colleagues, while your work contributes to increasing safety and reducing crime in Sweden.
Case Support works for efficient case handling by assisting the groups in the IT department before, during, and after investigations. The group is the contact route into the unit and has daily dialogue with both internal and external parties. The work takes place in various IT systems and according to established routines where accuracy, structure, and traceability are crucial for a legally secure operation.
Your tasks include, among others:
- Quality assure incoming requests and examination materials
- Register and manage cases and examination materials before, during, and after investigations
- Document events and actions in cases
- Staff functional mailboxes and service phones
- Handle references
- Prioritize, follow up, and optimize the case flow
- Perform other administrative tasks such as purchasing, replenishing consumables, and organizing unpacking rooms
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- A three-year post-secondary education in technology, administration, or equivalent knowledge deemed relevant by the employer
- Very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
- Good knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written.
- Very good computer skills
It is advantageous if you also have:
- Experience working in a government agency
- Experience in case administration and record-keeping
- Experience with confidentiality and sensitive information
- Experience in support and customer service

The position means that you will, for just over a year, attend a training course that leads to certification as a forensic technician while working. The training is provided within the framework of regular work.
